Go back that free blog theme I mentioned earlier and customize it to match your content. You can easily do that by changing the Stylesheet, header and footer in the administrative backend. If you decided on a logo then you do not need a big space at the top of the theme. If you have a long name, then search for a free theme where you can add a banner and keep the color of your blog in mind when designing the banner.
